Kentucky Electric Cooperatives

To effectively and efficiently serve consumer-members, all 26 electric cooperatives in Kentucky are members of the Kentucky Electric Cooperatives. This statewide association provides services to and advocates for Kentucky’s electric co-op program.

The Kentucky Electric Cooperatives is committed to improving the quality of life in Kentucky. Our member electric cooperatives provide a high level of electrical service at the lowest possible price through a local, consumer-owned form of business.

Kentucky’s electric cooperatives serve more than 1.8 million people in 117 of Kentucky’s 120 counties.

The statewide association is governed by a board consisting of one manager and one director from each of its 26-member systems and is headquartered in Louisville.

When electricity goes out, most of us expect power will be restored within a few hours. But when a major storm causes widespread damage, longer outages may result. Co-op line crews work long, hard hours to restore service safely to the greatest number of consumers in the shortest time possible.

Kentucky Rural Electric Disaster Fund

KREDF’s mission is to mobilize the caring power of our fellow employees and show that we are there for us. Kentucky Rural Electric Disaster Fund, Inc. exists for the purpose of offering financial and other relevant support during times of uncertainty and need for member Kentucky Electric Cooperative employees and families.
