OWENSBORO, Ky (November 2, 2026) — For her efforts in support of electric reliability and affordability, Kentucky Electric Cooperatives announced that Rep. Suzanne Miles has been recognized with its 2026 Power Partner Award.

“Rep. Miles is a long-standing advocate for the consumer-members of electric co-ops,” said Chris Perry, president of the statewide association of electric cooperatives. “Since she first took office in 2014 and in her leadership role today, Rep. Miles demonstrates an understanding and commitment to co-op values and priorities.”

Many of Rep. Miles 7th House District constituents in Daviess County are consumer-members of Kenergy, an electric cooperative which serves more than 60,000 homes and businesses in 14 counties.

Miles serves on the House Natural Resources and Energy Committee as well as the statewide Energy Planning and Inventory Commission. She is a past participant in Electric University, an educational opportunity offered to lawmakers by Kentucky Electric Cooperatives. Miles is also a founding member of the Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative Caucus, which has grown into the largest caucus in the General Assembly.

During the 2026 Regular Session, Miles championed several bills of crucial importance to Kentucky’s electric cooperatives. The first woman to serve as House Majority Caucus Chair, Miles has been re-elected to that post in every term since 2018.

With a goal of keeping the state’s energy supply stable and diversified, Miles couples her support of coal with an openness to nuclear energy development. She has represented Kentucky in national discussions on nuclear energy policy, including as a participant in the National Conference of State Legislatures’ Nuclear Legislative Working Group, which connects state lawmakers with federal officials and technical experts as states consider nuclear energy’s future role.

“Kentucky needs a strong, dependable energy supply to keep our homes powered, our businesses growing, and our economy competitive,” Miles said. “That means supporting the energy sources we depend on today while keeping the door open to new opportunities.”

Kentucky Electric Cooperatives presents its Power Partner Award to policymakers who demonstrate an understanding of the issues affecting electric cooperatives and a commitment to the people and communities they serve.

“We thank Representative Miles for her continued support of our program and our membership across the Commonwealth,” Perry said. “We are proud to recognize her as a Power Partner.”

Kentucky Electric Cooperatives is the statewide association of 24 local distribution co-ops and two generation and transmission co-ops that are not-for-profit and member-owned. Electric cooperatives work every day to keep power reliable and affordable for the communities they serve. The Power Partner Award recognizes policymakers like Miles who share that same commitment and understand the real-world impact that energy policy has on Kentucky families, farmers and businesses.
