As we prepare for the impending Special Session of the Kentucky General Assembly, KAECcontinues to monitor proposed legislation for its effects on our members. Please see the interview by KAEC’s Joe Arnold with Governor Matt Bevin for an explanation of the governor’s pension reform plan.
We do not anticipate any legislation affecting co-op members during the special session, which will be related to pension reform. While the Governor has not yet called an official date, we anticipate it to be called for mid to late November. At the conclusion of the special session, we will be less than 6 weeks away from the 2018 Regular session of the General Asembly. This will be a long session, 60 legislative days and we anticipate several bills with possible impact to our members. As always, we will remain diligent in monitoring bills and lobbying our legislators to make the best possible outcome for our 1.5 million members.
