Jackson Energy members took advantage of the near perfect weather to turn out for the recent Member Appreciation Day and Annual Meeting.
Members also got the first look at Jackson Energy’s hybrid electric Chevrolet Volt. The car can operate on an electric charge and also uses gasoline to extend the driving range. The Volt features the company logo in a vehicle wrap that makes it a moving billboard.
The Volt can be recharged by plugging it into a charging station, and Jackson Energy will use the car to learn more about the potential cost savings of electric vehicles.
More than 520 members registered for the event, which included lunch, a chance to win door prizes, and the annual business meeting. Jackson Energy President & CEO Carol Wright highlighted some of the cooperative’s programs, including economic development at the business meeting.
“Jackson Energy is also working with multiple partners on economic development in our region,” Wright says. “Technology has allowed us to showcase our industrial parks by utilizing drones for aerial views captured on video. We also have partnered with other local entities to create three TeleworksHubs in our region. These hubs have put to work more than 400 local citizens since their inception.”
Three board members were reelected at the business meeting—Tim Bobrowski, who represents OwsleyCounty; Ted Cundiff, the Lee County director; and Keith Binder, who represents southern Laurel County.
